Technical Manager

Job purpose:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager to join our UK business, who will be responsible for managing and further developing a focused Technical Support offering which delivers value for the UK business and client base. They will be responsible for growing the UK’s knowledge base and understanding of new and existing technologies. They will drive key objectives and project goals to ensure efficient and cost-effective special & refurbishment projects across all divisions, where applicable.

The scope of the role includes management of all activity relating to internal and external Technical delivery including but not limited to Product Support, Problem Solving, Project Management, Digital Transformation and where applicable, R&D.  To engage with and meet the needs of the Divisional managers. To engage with Alimak Group design and manufacturing authorities to meet the needs of the UK market and business.

The role is a permanent full-time position based in our Rushden Head Office, with regular travel across the UK and globally, as and when required.

Key tasks:

  • Plan, organise and deliver technical support activities to meet the needs of our customers and business, including the monitoring and implementing of our design/application engineering tools, hardware and project licenses, product support, problem solving and project management.
  • Recruit, assess, develop and manage staff in line with company policies and resource planning requirements, focusing on succession planning and business risk mitigation.
  • Communicate H&S objectives, ensure continued H&S performance and provide resources and training in line with the company’s H&S Management System.
  • Support the formulation and development of project programs for special refurbishment programs in line with our sales teams and divisional project managers.
  • Manage customer relations and expectation, supporting their business technical activities of Alimak Group products in line with Alimak Group brand values.
  • Lead and deliver continuous improvement in the operations and processes within the Technical Support operations, with specific focus on quality, safety, cost and efficiency.
  • Support the development of, and work in accordance with, the company’s Quality Management System.
  • Develop and maintain effective liaison with other divisions within Alimak Group UK Ltd and other Alimak Group product and sales companies, as needed.
  • Responsible for effective scope and utilization of applicable digitalisation tools (internal/external) to ensure improvements of connected machines, mentoring and training both customers and staff in the use of new and upcoming technologies with Hoist 12, AliCalc, AliSE, MyAlimak, REVIT etc.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the Technical Team.
  • Attend and present at external customer meetings and internal meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business development.

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Must have a head for heights
  • Mechanical / Civil / Electrical engineering experience is essential
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in related engineering discipline
  • Proven experience in industry
  • Strong knowledge and technical expertise
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office 365
