Category Manager – machined parts & welding to Alimak Group Sweden

Shape the future of strategic sourcing in a global industrial company

Are you motivated by creating business impact, developing supplier partnerships and driving improvements across cost, quality and delivery? Do you want to work in an international environment where your decisions make a real difference, from product development to operational performance?

Alimak Group Sweden is looking for a Category Manager to join our sourcing team in Skellefteå. In this role, you will take an active part in developing and implementing sourcing strategies for key categories within machined parts and welding, working closely with our factories in Sweden, Poland and China, as well as with colleagues across the global Alimak Group. You are functionally reporting to the Director Sourcing & Financial Control.

As Category Manager, you will play a key role in strengthening our supplier base, improving Total Cost of Ownership and supporting our continued journey toward a more competitive, efficient and future-ready sourcing organization.

Your role

  • Actively develop and implement sourcing strategies for your category.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, frame agreements and price list management.
  • Drive productivity improvements and cost-out initiatives with R&D and Operations.
  • Contribute to new product development from a sourcing and supplier perspective.
  • Lead and support cross-functionally with make-or-buy analysis and related projects
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance in areas such as quality, on-time delivery, lead time and cost.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the factories in Sweden, Poland, China and other Alimak Group locations.

Who we are looking for

  • A master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, or relevant experience within strategic sourcing and supply chain of at least 5 years.
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial understanding.
  • A result-oriented mindset combined with strong analytical ability.
  • Good communication, networking, and excellent at creating relationships with suppliers as well as cross-functional internally.
  • Professional proficiency in English and Swedish, both verbally and written, is mandatory.
  • Ability to manage your own work and take initiatives in line with defined targets

Experience from an industrial, manufacturing or engineering-driven environment is valuable, especially if you have worked with technical categories, supplier development or cross-functional cost improvement projects.
