From the cockpit to construction: meet Rachel, our high-flying operations manager

Before she was leading teams within Alimak Group across Queensland and Western Australia, Rachel was flying high—literally. With 15 years in the skies as an Airline Captain, her background in aviation is anything but ordinary. But it’s that very experience—navigating
complex systems, making high-stakes decisions, and leading with calm confidence—that makes her such a natural fit at Alimak Group.

Today, Rachel is our Operations Manager for both the rental construction and industrial business in her regions. Her days are a whirlwind of project meetings, client conversations, sales support, and strategic planning. “It’s a diverse and varied role,” she
says, “and while it has its challenges, it’s immensely rewarding.”

Rachel joined us in December 2024, bringing with her not only aviation expertise but also five years of operational leadership, and a master’s degree in business. Her career path may not be traditional, but it’s exactly that mix of experience and curiosity
that fuels her success. “I’ve always loved the commercial side of business,” Rachel explains. “And I’m drawn to roles where I can build high-performing teams, lead change, and solve complex problems.”

And speaking of teams, Rachel lights up when she talks about hers. “Without a doubt, the best part of my job is the people. I’m lucky to lead an incredible group who are proud, professional, and always good for a laugh.”

Her leadership style is grounded in empathy and growth. She believes in creating a space where people feel safe to try, fail, and succeed together. “Success is never a straight line,” she says. “But if we keep learning, keep challenging ourselves, and support
each other, we’ll get there.”

Outside of work, Rachel recharges by getting outdoors—whether it’s a run, a gym session, or a trip to the beach. And here’s a fun fact: she had her pilot’s license before she even had a driver’s license.

Rachel sees Alimak Group as a place where ambition is supported and growth is encouraged. “There’s a real sense of opportunity here,” she says. “It’s a safe and supportive culture, and I’m excited to see where my career can go.”

Rachel’s story is a reminder that great leadership doesn’t always follow a straight path—and that sometimes, the best way to move forward is to take off.
