Cimolai Rimond Middle East has placed an order with a value of approximately MSEK 32 with Alimak Group's business area Industrial Equipment for the Al Wasl Plaza in the site of the next World Expo, Expo 2020 Dubai.
The Al Wasl Plaza, the centrepiece of Expo 2020 Dubai, will be topped by a dome trellis structure 67.5 metres tall and 130 meters wide. When finished, the structure will consist of 13,600 metres of intricate steelwork and weigh 2,265 tonnes.
Alimak Group's CoxGomyl will supply, install, test and commission internal and external access equipment that will be used for maintaining and cleaning the special fabric elements that form the external skin of the structure.
The systems will be delivered and installed by mid-2019.
Starting on October 20, 2020, Expo is expected to draw 25 million visits from all around the world, including an unprecedented 70 per cent from outside of the UAE. It is the first time that a World Expo will be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region.
