Alimak Group gets construction hoist order for Karlatornet

Serneke has placed an order with Alimak Group's Construction Equipment for hoists to be used in the building of Karlatornet in Gothenburg.

Karlatornet with its 245 metres will be the tallest building in the Nordic region and is expected to be complete in 2021. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the architects for Karlatornet, are also behind some of the world's tallest and most spectacular buildings such as Burj Khalifa and One World Trade Center.

The order includes five hoists, of which one is a Mammoth TM with a payload of up to 5,500 kg. This is the first time the Mammoth will be used in Sweden. Delivery is scheduled from March to October 2019.

The building will have one construction crane instead of the normal two. Due to the strong winds expected during the construction phase, Serneke chose to go with the five Alimak hoists which can handle winds up to 25 metres per second.

"Karlatornet will be a landmark building and we are pleased to deliver the vertical access solutions needed for the special requirements posed by the height and wind. Alimak Group provides safe, reliable and high-quality vertical access solutions and services. With our broad product portfolio, with both premium and mid-market hoists, we can offer the right solution, in different performance and price levels for our customers' different needs", says Tormod Gunleiksrud, CEO Alimak Group.
