Alimak Group changes group structure and Group Leadership Team as integration of Tractel takes off

Alimak Group AB (“Alimak Group”) today announces a new Group structure and Group Leadership Team to execute on the integration of Tractel (“Tractel”).

Following the completion of the acquisition of Tractel, Alimak Group launches a new organisation and an updated Group Leadership Team. The combination of Alimak Group and Tractel creates a highly profitable global provider of sustainable premium height solutions with an annual revenue of over SEK 6 billion.

The new organisation and subsequent reporting structure, effective today, is based on Alimak Group’s organisational structure launched in January 2021. The new organisation will have five divisions: Construction, Industrial, Facade Access, Wind and Height Safety and Productivity Solutions (new division) with a portfolio of leading brands, delivering high customer value through enhanced safety, productivity and resource efficiency.

The Group Leadership team has been updated: Sylvain Grange, former CFO of Tractel, has been appointed new CFO of Alimak Group and Philippe Gastineau, former CEO of Tractel, has been appointed Senior EVP for Facade Access and for Height Safety & Productivity Solutions. Thomas Hendel, Alimak Group’s CFO, has decided to leave the company to pursue other opportunities outside the company.

“Today we start an exciting journey together with Tractel. The new organisation and leadership team will now begin the integration work to further accelerate our profitable growth strategy. Our main focus will be to ensure business continuity through strong focus on our customers and our people and to capture the commercial synergies”, says Ole Kristian Jødahl, CEO, Alimak Group.

Alimak Group’s new organisation – five customer centric divisions
The acquisition of Tractel will enable the delivery of high customer value with sustainable and efficient solutions for both temporary and permanent access needs. Alimak Group is, as of today November 21, organised in five customer centric divisions, each responsible for the full customer journey.

Construction division
Tractel’s temporary access rack & pinion business – Scanclimber, a leading provider of mast climbing work platforms, will become part of the Construction division. This will expand the customer base and unlock significant cross selling opportunities through the broadened solutions portfolio including hoists, transport platforms and mast climbing work platforms, serving both construction and rental customers.

Facade Access division
Tractel’s permanent access organisation will become part of the Facade Access division. The acquisition of Tractel brings the opportunity to establish a global market leading position in permanent access solutions through the expanded customer base and combined portfolio. The portfolio covers all categories of buildings and structures, including complex projects and high rises, standard BMU’s and mid rises as well as Davits and simpler access systems for low rises.

Wind division
There is no organisational change for the Wind division effective on closing, but the work to start realizing growth opportunities will begin immediately. Tractel’s product range and growth initiatives in Wind is a perfect fit with Avanti’s portfolio and broadens the scope and opportunities for Alimak Group. The joint offering will enhance the Group’s value proposition to both OEM’s and end customers, expanding the portfolio for safe and efficient access and lifting & handling solutions in wind towers.

Height Safety & Productivity Solutions division (New division)
The new Height Safety and Productivity Solutions division provides significant synergies for cross selling of solutions, adds a lot of new customers, opens new segments, and contributes with a vast global network of distributors. The end customers of these products are found both within construction as well as in basically all industrial segments.

Industrial division
There is no organisational change for the Industrial division effective on closing. However, any cross-selling opportunities with Tractel will begin immediately.

Alimak Group’s five divisions are fully responsible for the customer journey, including equipment, spare parts and services. Alimak Group and Tractel have similar after sales business models based on products that have a long life with need for inspection, service, and certification. The combination offers significant potential to increase Alimak Group’s service business, based on the large combined installed base of Alimak Group and Tractel. The expanded service solutions offering and the vast installed base, enables the company to minimize customers’ total cost of ownership, prolong the lifetime of the solutions and to refurbish and if needed replace such solutions, thereby also reducing the climate and environmental footprint.

Changes to Alimak Group’s Leadership Team
Thomas Hendel, CFO, Alimak Group since 2021 has decided to leave the company to pursue other opportunities. To ensure an orderly change and a smooth transition and handover, Thomas Hendel will remain with the company in a supporting role during his notice period.

“It has been very rewarding to be part of the Group Leadership Team and to manage the talented finance team during this period of great change”, says Thomas Hendel.

“I would like to thank Thomas for his contributions to the Group both as CFO and as a member of the Group Leadership Team and wish him all the best in his future endeavors” says Ole Kristian Jødahl, CEO, Alimak Group.

Sylvain Grange, previously the CFO of Tractel, has been appointed new CFO of Alimak Group entering this role as of today. Sylvain brings deep financial expertise and business acumen to the group and has been the CFO of Tractel since 2008.

“Sylvain brings an impressive track record from his position in Tractel and has a deep knowledge of this business. I look very much forward to be working with Sylvain in the years to come to bring Alimak Group to new heights”, says Ole Kristian Jødahl, CEO, Alimak Group.

“Alimak Group and Tractel are a very good fit, and their businesses offer many complementarities, notably in terms of product portfolio, geographies and know-how. The integration work implies a number of challenges, but I am confident our respective committed teams will address those and deliver the expected value creation. I am furthermore honoured and excited to take on the role of Group CFO”, says Sylvain Grange, new CFO, Alimak Group.

Further, Alimak Group has appointed Philippe Gastineau as Senior EVP for Facade Access and for Height Safety & Productivity Solutions, entering his new role as of today. Philippe has been the CEO of Tractel since 2017 and has prior to that held several different executive management positions in Nexans and Vinci Energies.

“I am looking forward to joining the Alimak Group Leadership Team and to aim for further growth through the combined strengths of the two companies,” says Phillipe Gastineau, Senior EVP for the Facade Access division and for the Height Safety & Productivity solutions division.

“Philippe has led Tractel in an excellent way over the last five years and I feel privileged to have him onboard in a key role in the new leadership team”, says Ole Kristian Jødahl, CEO, Alimak Group.

The new Group Leadership Team for Alimak Group, effective as of November 21, consists of:

  • Ole Kristian Jødahl, President & CEO
  • Sylvain Grange, CFO
  • Philippe Gastineau, Senior EVP Facade Access Division and for Height Safety & Productivity Solutions Division
  • David Batson, EVP Construction Division
  • Salomeh Tafazoli, EVP Industrial Division

  • Charlotte Brogren, Chief Technology Officer
  • Annika Haaker, Chief People & Culture Officer
  • Matilda Wernhoff, Chief Strategy and M&A Officer
  • Johnny Nylund, Chief Communication Officer (as of January 9, 2023)

“As with any great company, the value is created by the people. It has therefore been and will continue to be vital to ensure an attractive and rewarding culture and thereby keep the best people. I am very happy that the leadership team of Tractel is taking on new roles in the new Alimak Group and we will together as a team do our outmost to take our business to new heights”, says Ole Kristian Jødahl, CEO, Alimak Group.
