Workshop Technician
Job purpose:
Are you ready to be an essential part of a dynamic workshop team at Alimak Group? We’re on the lookout for a dedicated Workshop Technician who will make a significant impact on our rack & pinion products. Whether it’s new equipment preparation, service and maintenance, repairs and refurbishment, or research and development testing, you’ll be at the heart of it all.
This permanent full-time role is based at our Rushden Head Office, with a Monday to Friday schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Compliance:
- Follow stringent safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a secure working environment.
- Proactively identify and report potential safety improvements, hazards, or concerns.
- Foster a culture of safety among the workshop staff.
Technical Expertise:
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, drawings, and blueprints for effective repairs and troubleshooting.
- Rewire electrical control panels in accordance with electrical drawings and standards.
- Perform mechanical tasks on Alimak products.
- Test and commission systems to meet manufacturer specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues using a range of hand and power tools, as well as specialised diagnostic equipment.
Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
- Conduct regular inspections and diagnostics to identify equipment issues and defects.
- Perform preventive maintenance to keep equipment in top condition.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical problems.
- Replace faulty parts, components and systems.
- Conduct performance testing and quality checks post-repair or maintenance.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and service history.
- Generate comprehensive reports on work completed, parts used, and costs incurred.
- Assist in inventory management and ordering of replacement parts and supplies.
Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other workshop technicians and departments to coordinate tasks.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and colleagues.
Continuous Improvement:
- Suggest process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Engage in training and development programs to expand your skills and knowledge.
Competencies & Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Mechanical/Electrical Technician in the hoist industry is essential.
- Strong technical knowledge and expertise.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- A team player focused on delivering exceptional service.
